We held our annual Study Day in July, which again was sponsored and supported by Northease Manor School. Fintan O'Regan started the day with an entertaining and thought-provoking talk 'Difficult, Defiant and Different', and also ran a workshop on bullying. There were also workshops on Autism, the environment and learning, Active Listening, Technology and Dyslexia, Self-Esteem and Motivation, Philosophy for Children, Visual Learning and the Word Whizzer, all of which were stimulating and well-received. Marion Allen from the adoption support agency Family Futures finished the day with a practical, insightful talk on 'Executive Function skills within a school setting'.

It was a sunny day and the hundred delegates were able to eat the delicious lunch the school provided outside in their beautiful grounds.

In the Autumn Term Andrew Haveron, the music teacher at Northease Manor School, will run an interactive music session to demonstrate how music is taught to the dyslexic students at the school, integrating Kodaly's principles. This will be held on a Wednesday in November (exact date not yet finalised - please contact Rose Sharp for information). Our evening meetings are held at Northease Manor School, and are free for Patoss members, with others paying £5.

All are Welcome.
