On the 11th June we held our first meeting at our new venue, the lecture theatre at Durham School. Many thanks to the head, Martin George, for sharing the school's facilities. Stuart Kime gave a very thought provoking presentation on Assessment for Learning (AfL). This is a hugely practical area and every teacher present went away with techniques and tips to make learning in their classroom more effective. He also reported on the research showing how teacher learning communities can improve educational practice and results.

On 8th October 2011 there will be a presentation by Christina Thompson on helping children with speech and language difficulties. It will start at 10:00 a.m. and it will be held in the Lecture Theatre at Durham School. The meeting is free to members. Non members may attend but they will be asked to join the group.
