The Northamptonshire Patoss branch had a busy spring term with three meetings. Two of these focussed on the links between speech and language and literacy difficulties. In March we were delighted to welcome Meriel Davenport, a speech and language therapist from More House School, Frensham, a specialist school for boys with specific learning difficulties. She provided an interesting picture of her work and gave delegates a wide range of ideas to support learners in secondary schools. Then in May Ros Bayley, a consultant and author for Lawrence Publications, gave an equally exciting and useful presentation on supporting children’s speaking and listening in early years and primary school settings. Finally, in April we were delighted to welcome back Sharon Goldie from iANSYST to update our knowledge of hardware and software for screening and supporting dyslexic learners. Feedback from delegates to all three presentations emphasised how relevant the information and advice was seen to be and how much it was helping to promote good practice in supporting learners of all ages who have specific learning difficulties.
