Last term's meeting was our AGM which was held at Savile Park School, Halifax, where the Head, Karen Lomas and former Senco, Parveen Akhtar, spoke about their work with children with English as an additional language who have Specific Learning Difficulties. Parveen has developed an assessment to discover whether children have learning difficulties or whether it is their lack of knowledge of English which affects their progress.

Future programme with time, venue and cost:

At the request of our members a course is being held at The 3D Centre in Halifax on Saturday 6th March 2010 to address the core requirements of CPD for updating the Assessment Practising Certificate, to include principles of psychometrics and statistics, interpretation of test results and examination of recently published assessments which participants will be able to examine. Cost, including lunch, £152.75.

We also plan to run an evening meeting this term but due to inclement weather, our committee meeting has had to be postponed and arrangements are not yet finalised.
