We have recently had a practical workshop looking at ICT to support dyslexic learners. One of our recently retired members gave us a talk about her excellent home made resources she has made using word and power point on the computer. Her games and resources were suitable for all ages and our members were amazed at how many she has produced for every sound and spelling pattern. Another member talked about using ‘Nessy’ very effectively with her pupils. Lastly we heard a little about the newly launched Inclusion Development Programme and its future impact in classrooms.

We have organised our fourth Marjorie Lishman memorial lecture. We have Anne Henderson coming to talk about ‘Maths and Dyslexia’ on Wednesday 5th March 2008. This will be held at Cleeve Park School, Bexley Lane, Sidcup, Kent DA14 4JN at 7.00pm for 7.30pm. Anne will be sharing her expertise and research with practical ideas to enable teachers to support maths for the dyslexic learner.

We have our AGM planned for 7th May 2008. This is slightly later than usual to accommodate Anne Henderson’s lecture. It will be held in ‘Sophie’s Choice’ restaurant, Sidcup and will be followed by a lovely meal and a chance to meet socially.

We have also organised another of our successful ‘Strawberry Teas’ for June 24th at one of our member's gardens. This is an informal event that allows us to share resources, hear the latest dyslexia news and enjoy some delicious cakes and strawberries.
