About the authors

Gill Backhouse is a practising Psychologist and Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Human Communication Science, University College London. She is former Chief Verifier for the OCR Specific Learning Difficulties Scheme and has liased closely with the Joint Council Special Requirements Committee since 1997 when Specialist Teachers became eligible to report to the ABs on candidates' special needs during examinations.

Elizabeth Dolman is Manager of the OCR Special Requirements Unit and is a long-standing member of the Joint Council Special Requirements Group.

Caroline Read is a specialist teacher carrying out assessments for access arrangements in a local secondary school. She runs training for special needs professionals across the UK.

Lynn Greenwold is Chief Executive, Patoss, Chair of the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee [SASC]; for a number of years an SpLD tutor and learning support tutor with additional responsibilities for examination arrangements for students with learning difficulties and disabilities at Evesham College.
