Rose Review Report due Early 2009

Sir Jim would like to thank all those who took the time to supply evidence, views and experiences to help inform the development of recommendations. An analysis of responses is now being prepared which Jim will consider as part of developing recommendations. He is planning to publish a report of his recommendations early in 2009.

Furthermore, we know that schools are using a number of different interventions to accelerate the progress of children with dyslexia, and Sir Jim Rose is interested in learning much more about their impact. We would not wish schools to interpret Sir Jim's work as a sign to stop using any particular approaches that may already be in place, or may be under consideration for particular children, (e.g. specialist dyslexia teaching). Indeed, it is very much hoped that schools will send evidence of children's progress being achieved from different interventions so that this can be considered as Sir Jim develops his recommendations.

Sir Jim Rose is developing recommendations on the identification and teaching of children with dyslexia. To help develop these, Jim is looking at published research evidence on the impact of different interventions on the progression of children with dyslexia. In addition, on 14 July he asked to be sent the following material by 10 October:

Details of published research you would like him to consider

If you work in a school, or have worked in a school, your experience of what has helped children with dyslexia to make good progress, and what appears to have worked less well

If you are a parent or carer of a child with dyslexia, your experience of what has helped your child to make good progress, and what appears to have worked less well

If you are a child, young person or adult with dyslexia, your experience of what has helped you to make good progress, and what appears to have worked less well.

The deadline for responses has now passed and Sir Jim would like to thank all those who took the time to supply evidence, views and experiences.

An analysis of responses is now being prepared, which Jim will consider as part of developing his recommendations.

Jim expects to publish a report of recommendations early in 2009.
