Specialist Teacher-Specific Learning/Language Difficulties Team (5524 - NORTHANTS - 9/4/08)

Description: The Specific Learning and Language Difficulties Team needs two teachers with postgraduate qualifications in SpLD to join us in September. SpLLD teachers work in primary and secondary schools across Northamptonshire to support school staff to raise the achievement and plan for the inclusion of pupils with SpLD.

The work includes diagnostic assessment of pupils, advising on suitable teaching intervention and inclusion, training of school staff as well as liaising with educational psychologists and other professionals.

We are looking for energetic, creative and committed teachers, who can work on their own initiative and as part of a team.

A Deputy Headteacher to join “an extremely successful school” which gives “outstanding value for money” and where pupils make “outstanding progress” (Source: Ofsted July 2007). Areas of responsibility will be negotiable according to individual strengths. A contribution will be required to both the academic and pastoral development of a busy boarding school. Senior management experience an advantage but not essential.

A part time Head of Art with particular expertise at Key Stages 3 and 4 is required to join an extremely successful department that regularly achieves accelerated learning above national averages. Hours are negotiable and there is the possibility of teaching a second subject.


Northease Manor School is a DfES approved independent day and boarding co-educational special school for potentially able pupils who have Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia) aged 10 to 17 years. Staff are paid according to the national pay scales plus special needs allowances.

Dyslexia Support Teacher (W'MINSTER 21/4/08)

Description: A teahcer with appropriate SpLD qualifications required, as soon as possible, for hourly paid work.

Duties involve: supporting dyslexic students who are on mainstream courses in 1:1 sessions; assessing students for dyslexia and arranging exam concessions; liaising with mainstream tutors.

City of Westminster College is a general Further Education college and the dyslexia support team works with both 16-18 year olds and adults.
