Specialist Dyslexia Tutor – Normanhurst School

We are looking to appoint an excellent specialist tutor to provide one to one tuition and support to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) from April 2019. The successful candidate will be able to enthuse and inspire, and will be sufficiently experienced and qualified to work with young people up to the age of 16.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To support pupils with specific learning differences (SPLD) and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in KS3 and KS4.
  • To design and deliver 1:1 and group support for specific pupils with specific learning needs
  • To collate, reproduce, organise and adapt resources to fit the needs of designated pupils
  • To assist with communication between school and home and to attend meetings with colleagues and parents
  • To assist in maintaining, monitoring and reviewing the records of pupils with specific learning needs

A qualification for teaching children with Dyslexia is essential, and in addition the successful candidate will have excellent literacy and numeracy skills and will be able to communicate effectively on all levels. Experience of working with young people with additional support needs is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively with children who have a range of learning difficulties

This is a part time position with around 10 hours per week, which may fluctuate depending on demand.
