OnDemand: Examination Access Arrangements for Learners with Reading Difficulties

This webinar aims to provide you with an understanding of reading difficulties and how these are addressed by JCQ exam access arrangements, presented by Liz Horobin and Sarah Reay.


Case studies will be used to explore the types of reading difficulty learners may experience, how to match these to the most relevant and appropriate exam access arrangements, and the processes involved in applying for each arrangement.

Course Description:

  • The types of difficulty learners may experience with reading
  • What access arrangements are available to address these difficulties
  • Case studies to demonstrate how to match available access arrangements to learners’ needs
  • The relevant regulations and processes set out in the JCQ Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) 2021-22

Course Outcomes

The webinar will provide you with

  • An understanding of the processes and skills involved in reading
  • Awareness of the difficulties that may be observed in learner behaviour
  • Knowledge of the available exam access arrangements
  • An understanding of how to match available access arrangements to areas of need
  • Processes involved in applying for relevant access arrangements


Delegates are asked to download a copy of the JCQ AARA 2021- 22 for reference.

This course is on demand. Delegates will have direct access to the event in the ‘Online Events’ section of their account for two weeks from the payment date, and can watch as any times as they like during that period.

If paying by card (please ensure the billing address and card address match), access will be given within a minute or so. If paying by invoice, access will be given on payment of that invoice. You will need to check with your own finance department to see when the invoice is paid. If paying by BACS, you will need to give our finance department a day or so to link the payment to the invoice which will activate access.
