OnDemand: Can’t Learn, Won’t Learn, Catch Me if You Can!

This presentation will outline the differences and overlapping traits of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Conduct Disorder (CD)

Introduction

It has been estimated that 2.2% of boys and 0.7% of girls were identified across 21 world regions to have ADHD (Pennington et al 2019).  ADHD disrupts the learner’s ability to sustain effort, plan and organise their learning, which make school a challenging place for many of these learners. Through effective understanding of ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) which appears in student’s with ADHD as losing temper, arguing with adults and refusal to comply with instructions. Whilst Conduct Disorder is where the student with ADHD  is often chronically aggressive towards others. These two conditions often co-occur with ADHD. This webinar will enable you to effectively understand these learning differences and to put into place effective learning strategies to enable the learner to succeed.

Course Description

By demystifying ADHD and ODD and CD, you can provide the effective strategies of support that are focused on rewards and sanctions which can reduce conflict. This enables you to deal with demanding and difficult or defiant behaviour. It also stops anger and aggression from building up in a classroom. This course will teach you how through an effective understanding of your learners you can create an effective learning environment, to allow the ADHD child to learn.
