Our events are held across the regions of the Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud and Tewkesbury. Newcomers are always welcome to our very well supported, active group.

On 14 September 2017, Nick Lait, Senior Examinations and Committee Manager at the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) gave an update on Access Arrangements for Students: Key Stage 4. At Cheltenham College. Nick Lait again made his annual visit to the group to relay any changes to Access Arrangements for 2018 and there was an informative ‘question and answers’ session afterwards where Nick replied to queries related to individual school settings. Nick is a popular speaker and is always well supported by our members.

On 22 November 2017, we had our AGM. 2016/2017 has been another very busy year with speakers on very varied topics held in different locations in Gloucestershire. Although we have lost one committee member due to family commitments, two more members were voted onto the committee making a total of eight. Our Chairperson and Local Group Contact will be stepping down at the next AGM.

After the AGM, Sarah Deakin. occupational therapist,SpLD teacher/assessor and certified facilitator of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® spoke on ‘Sharing the Potential of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®’ at The Milestone School.

Sarah shared her knowledge and methods for using LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® using different Lego parts to illustrate her teaching. In this interactive session, the audience were given practical tasks using Lego kits provided, and it provoked lively discussions on how it could be applied to help different pupils. This innovative process is used to enhance learning, using a visual, hands-on and story-telling approach and can be adapted to suit all ages in a wide variety of settings. An inspiring session, that was very well received by our members.
