On Demand: Applied Speech and Language Strategies to Support Learners with Dyslexia/DLD

Applied Speech and Language Strategies for learners with a Learning Difference have been demonstrated to be effective in developing language and literacy skills for such students.

Introduction

This webinar aims to provide a range of inclusive support strategies and promotes a multi-faceted approach to teaching primary and secondary age students with language, literacy and learning challenges. 

Course Description

The webinar will review the overlapping diagnoses of learning needs associated with language and literacy difficulties. There will be an emphasis on Developmental Language Disorder. Using a psycholinguistic model, we will revise the theoretical background to support practice i.e. how specialist learning support is delivered by linking speech, language and literacy skills. Promoting a multi-faceted approach to teaching. 

Course Outcome 

Delegates will learn to: 

Apply practical solutions for the development of attention, vocabulary, receptive/expressive/pragmatic language, phonological awareness, morphology, memorable spelling, working/language memory, reading comprehension, and word retrieval. 

Timings

This training course is on demand, and once given access you will have it for two weeks to complete the training. During that time you can rewatch as many times as you wish.

Course Materials

Delegates will be able to download electronic copies of the handouts, and will be responsible for printing off their own copies.

Once the course has been booked and paid for, you will be sent a link to Moodle where the course is held by the admin team. Please allow up to 24 hours for the admin team to give you access. Please note the admin team's working hours are 9.00am-5.00pm Monday to Friday.
