On Demand: JCQ Access Arrangements and the Role of the SENDCo

Designed to meet the needs of SENDCos involved in the access arrangement process, this course is delivered by an experienced practitioner, who will share his recommendations for best practice. Suitable for SENDCos and others involved in managing the access arrangements process in secondary settings.

Course Description

Drawing on his considerable experience as a SENDCo within a secondary school, Gareth examines the processes underlying applying for access arrangements, including roles and responsibilities, managing assessments and processing applications, essential record keeping systems, staff training and communications. The session addresses best practice, encouraging you to reflect on practice within your own centre and explore how to establish a whole centre approach, ensuring that your centre is JCQ compliant.

Course Outcomes

Delegates will

  • gain a better understanding of the JCQ regulations for Access Arrangements at GCSE and GCE level;
  • how to ensure compliance with the regulations;
  • take away ideas for streamlining and improving practice and processes within the centre;
  • gain an understanding of what is meant by a whole centre approach and how to achieve this;
  • be better prepared for JCQ inspections.


You will find it useful, during the session, to have access to a copy of the JCQ Guidelines, Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments 2020/21.


This training is delivered as an hour and 15 minutes long on demand webinar. You will have access to the recordings for two weeks after the webinar to watch as many times as you wish in that period.

Joining Instructions

Once the course has been booked and paid for in full, the admin team will give you access to it on Moodle for a two week period. Please allow a day or so for the team to give you the access, their hours are Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm
